A Bluebird In The void

A Bluebird In The void

A Poem by Matthew Bass

I started smoking again
It's terrible
but, I'll buy another pack soon
it helps me think:

Hell is cold and unlit
a metaphor for distance from love-
so I kiss you as much as I can
with the vain hope you can feel them

with every thought, my heart melts
deeper into enigmatic you
because I've never forgotten...
why I fell in love and,
how easy it is.
