Star FlowerA Poem by Mason
I cast my eyes up to the charred skies
as stars begin to blossom, like thousands of tiny flowers glistening with dew greeting the morning sun. Their petals bloom and retract, brightening and dimming unpredictably like so many uncontrolled flames- the synapses in my head reflecting back at me. They seem to fall back and forth- small pendulums of light- becoming brighter with every cycle, never reaching their end, always seeking newer and greater heights.
