Oh, it’s okay

It’s okay to write about the sun.

Oh, I know it’s been done before.
                More than a few times.
But it’s risen more than a few times too,
So your sun and my sun
                May actually be different renderings.

                What did the instructor say?
That he’s heard it all before?
Well, the first thing is, he pro’ly read it
                Not heard it.
                So he’s lying to you.

                And the next thing is
I heard the Star Spangled Banner before
But I always stand at attention and respect
                When it strikes up.
                It deserves my attention,
                Even if it’s familiar –
As long as it’s done well.

You can work all your life to write something
That no one has ever read before –
And what does it get you?
Something someone never wants to read again.

this is really good. a lot of people disregard things that are common, but when you thing about it, they endure lots of "common" things every day and enjoy it. the "star-spangled banner" simile was a good one.

I know exactly what u mean. This is so honest and very good. Great thoughts, must say there really is truth here. everythings different to everyone else, you could be looking at the same stars but two people can SEE it different. One might see stars one might see diamonds.

Oh, but to write that certain something that someone wants to read again and again and again. . . that must be what keeps up coming back.
