Post-Titled Poem #1

Green.
Green captures my vision. Flowing away from me. Alive and vibrant. Reaching. Growing. Pulling nutrients from the earth and sky And giving them expression. Blue. Blue sky above me. Peaceful and calm, Where clouds occlude, but only slightly. Wisps. Maybe clouds. Maybe smoke. Perhaps a fire frames my vision. And there’s sound. Sharp sound. Thundering sound. Chaos. But it’s around me. And above me. And it doesn’t involve me. Anymore. Blades of grass, a stone and small sticks crease my cheek. My arms and legs are with me, though I can’t feel them. Green and blue fade, from the edges. To gray. Then black. And a darkness captures my vision. Title: Gettysburg © 2008 Mark PearceAuthor's Note
