Wake Up!

Wake Up!

A Story by Maryem Sumyta

It was dark outside. Alura and her brother Kane were walking home from the football game. Alura had brown hair and blue eyes. Kane had black hair green eyes. Alura was wearing faded blue jeans and a avenged seven-fold t-shirt. Her brother was in a black blouse and dress pants. He walked quietly next to his little sister.
A car was zooming by and the driver didn't see Kane and Alura walking. Kane pushed Alura out of the way and got hit by the car. When Alura realized what happened she tried to get up. But her waist ached. She put her hand on her waist and she had a piece of glass stuck in her side. She removed it and crawled over to her brother. The driver was unconscious. Kane was as still as a statue.
"Kane?" Alura said when she reached him. "Kane!? Wake up." She waited for him to open his eyes. When he didn't fear struck her and she started tearing up. "Kane!" Her voice cracked. "Kane!!! Wake up!! Wake up Kane!" She started crying. She hit his chest. "Wake up wake up WAKE UP! Damn it!!." She bawled "Kane!!!" The driver woke up from her screaming and crying.
He called the cops as soon as he could find his phone. By the time the cops got there Alura had her brother wrapped tightly in her arms crying. She was bleeding out badly. The driver came out and the cops took him to the ambulance. The cops came over and had to pry her away from her brother. She bawled screaming for her brother. The male cop was her uncle he was tearing up as well but he held firmly on her waist holding her left leg while she was on the ground. She screamed her brothers name over and over.
She kept crying until she passed out in her uncles arms. The next day they made funeral arrangements. The driver said he was sorry to Alura. She understood knowing the roads were slick and the fact it was dark out. At the funeral she sang her brothers favorite song.
"Come stop your crying
It will be alright
Just take my hand
Hold it tight
I will protect you
From all around you
I will be here
Don't you cry
For one so small,
You seem so strong
My arms will hold you,
Keep you safe and warm
This bond between us
Can't be broken
I will be here
Don't you cry
'Cause you'll be in my heart
Yes, you'll be in my heart
From this day on
Now and forever more
You'll be in my heart
No matter what they say
You'll be here in my heart, always
Why can't they understand the way we feel?
They just don't trust what they can't explain
I know we're different but deep inside us
We're not that different at all
And you'll be in my heart
Yes, you'll be in my heart
From this day on
Now and forever more
Don't listen to them
'Cause what do they know (what do they know)?
We need each other
To have, to hold.
They'll see in time
I know
When destiny calls you
You must be strong (you gotta be strong)
I may not be with you
But you've got to hold on
They'll see in time
I know
We'll show them together
'Cause you'll be in my heart
Yes, you'll be in my heart
[another version says: "Believe me, you'll be in my heart"]
I'll be there from this day on,
Now and forever more
Oh, you'll be in my heart (you'll be here in my heart)
No matter what they say (I'll be with you)
You'll be here in my heart (I'll be there), always
Always
I'll be with you
I'll be there for you always
Always and always
Just look over your shoulder
Just look over your shoulder
Just look over your shoulder
I'll be there always."
She was crying really hard when she finished and her uncle walked up and held her close. Since that day Alura would never get in a car nor would she stay near the road. She lost her parents when she was a child and now her brother.
