What she hadA Poem by MaryamIn her purse, some lip gloss Shocking pink by Maybelline
Oddly enough, with £10 in loose change It was open, so it could all be seen.
Keys to her flat, number 561 Protected by her clenched up fist
Alone, away from the rest of the bunch In fear, was probably the way she lived.
Then, a packet of cigarettes All smoked but one
Weird to see it was already lit Halfway burnt, creating a smoked up hole.
The silver dove pendant Supported by a slight silver chain
Inscribed “live life to the fullest- Holly”
A full life would be good to gain.
But last of all and most shocking no doubt A pregnancy test, that read trouble,
trouble, trouble
Belonging to somebody lost in a difficult
world All that could be said, what’s done is
done. © 2012 MaryamAuthor's Note
