Every Night, I Weep

Every Night, I Weep

A Poem by MaryOwais

They all go to sleep,
and leave me on my own,
every night, I weep.

I have loved him,
under the cloak of my own heart.
And in front of all eyes,
I am left to discard.

By myself, on my own,
that’s how I feel.
On my throat hangs a stone,
and my breath it steals.
All day, all week.

I’m very lonely,
I write, I read, I sleep.
No one understands the pain so severe.
That’s a therapy, time will reveal.

I tell everyone I’m fine, I lie,
but they believe.
they don’t ask questions,
they don’t demand I speak.

They all go to sleep,
and leave me on my own,
every night, I weep.

True expressions of emotions. Words splashed upon a page without fearing what will be revealed. I like the honesty of your poem, dear poet. Please keep sharing your true self.
