Death broke my heart twice

Death broke my heart twice

A Poem by Mary Helda
"

the nightmare that has kept me awake for days

"
Help!
Aloud came the yelp
Ripping through me like pieces of glass
I could see her weary face void of delight
A restless broken soul wilting to the colour of night
Frantically moving her hands in the filthy muddy river as she drifted away into nothingness
Clearly depriving us of togetherness
Suddenly i awoke to the bloodcurdling sound of an owl
Tears cascading down my cheeks
With only the darkness to hold me
And the loneliness to wipe away my tears
Are you still wondering around?
Did you go to heaven?
I pray you see the light, mommy

I think death continously breaks our hearts. Each time you think it may be the last but some dream, some memory will surface and the heart shatters again. I hope to god, if there is one, that my heart never becomes too hard to break again because that pain is love, that's all, beautiful love in a different form.. no one can help to wonder if they are safe or gone.. in a heaven somewhere or reincarnated and anew.. but your poem reflects what we all feel and fear after we lose someone, thanks for sharing.

I like the depth of the content. Even though your lines seem to be crafted effortless, they convey a deeper meaning.

Nice flow and a good show of your descriptive talents, the last line give's it the feel of a bedtime prayer. A well told story masterfully done, I give it four out of five Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap!

I can feel the terror and trauma in this piece. Nicely written. And you really know how to add a spice of drama in this. Thanks a lot for sharing this! :) Good job!

You're very welcome, dear! :)
A powerful sad write which to me reflected on those 200 women kidnapped by that thug Basko and co in Northern Africa. This brings to mind the terrible doings to beautiful people. Why aren't the wrong and evil punished??? Where is that God everyone preaches to, for guidance, to protect!!?? He should intervene!!! Thank you for an excellent write!

Your use of language is very impressive. The subject is of course very sad. I had something similar about my Dad. But I feel your poem has put your mommy to rest in some lovely place! Well done for writing it.
