Cathedral At Sunset

Cathedral At Sunset

A Poem by Mary Bosworth

The darkness grinned having seen
the sun’s farewell glide
to hide behind Cathedral’s dome.
There it sets its glow.
Gone are the motes of dust.
The thin iridescent rays
have fallen apart and are gone.

But behind the tall steeple,
above the dark, lonely semi-circle,
the sky, so distant in daylight’s long drag,
in an instant, and gently,
hangs out a lemon nimbus.
Sad beauty is at home on the Earth.

This is a very deeply-touching piece

It's like I'm seeing the dust float through the sunlight in a bedroom. You have a great eye for detail in my opinion.

Very concise and hits every mark with the imagery. It really painted a picture for me!

So beautiful, and so eloquent, Mary...

"the sky, so distant in daylight’s long drag,
in an instant, and gently,
hangs out a lemon nimbus."

A very well expressed piece. I find beauty everywhere I look. There's beauty no matter whether it be in joy, darkness, or any emotion or circumstance. I feel you expressed this point with great emphasis. Your words flowed fluently off the page. Thank you for sharing and keep up the good work.
