don't box me in the confines of your squared edges

don't box me in the confines of your squared edges

A Poem by Mary Bosworth

don't box me in
the confines of
your squared edges
too sharp
to suit
my curving
morality
don't you know
complacency
is a
bondage?
made small
by comfort
my mongrel heart
discerns the trap
snatching bait
before the latch
is snapped

Freedom is the best medicine to recover for being smothered Run away quick before he discovers you gone for good.

I like the way this poem doesn't just refer to it as a box, but a box trap which is more accurate.

"don't box me in
the confines of
your squared edges" Wonderful line, so true in life. So many are afraid to be out of the box and you write truthfully of someone not afraid to be on the outside.

It's appealing to the eye of THIS reader when the font and format compliment the words of the poem. I like the shortness of your lines, as well...it's sharp and concise, not layered with paragraphs that go on and on.

I really like your style, Mary!
