Street Lamp

Street Lamp

A Poem by Mary Bosworth

Voices coagulating into agreement
and silences darkening into oblivion
as closing pubs vomit their crowds
into dimly lit streets -
tired journeys breaking to a halt!

You are intrinsically sad
as a street lamp touches the tips
of graveyard headstones
through the shade of dark forest trees.

All horizons
dumbstruck as men
watching, passively, the crevice
of every secret exchange
between man and his environment.

Awesome!
Oh to be a street lamp on a corner or a fly in the wall.
The things that are observed...

Awesome use of metaphors, Mary! I never thought of pubs that way...very impressive!
