My Castle to the Sky

My Castle to the Sky

A Poem by Honey-Bee

My Castle to the Sky

I built my castle high to reach the sky
Brick by brick I built it
Inside I even provided a water supply
Though blood and sweat dripped off my skin
Day after toilsome day I cheerfully laid brick
Knowing that one day I would win.
Men on horses came from far and wide
To see my castle that would soon  reach the sky
They came and went just like the ocean tide
On the castle walls birds began to build their nests
I never grew tired of their songs
They soon became my permanent guests
Wild vines of jasmine began to grow up the sides of the castle walls
They then bloomed flowers that perfumed the air
An aroma that would soon make me feel ten feet tall
I dug a mote to keep the imagined enemies out
With a raise-able bridge that laid across it if in doubt
The mote began to fill with water as the rains all came about
I built my castle high to reach the sky
As into the sky the top bricks began to fade away,
I declared It finished, as I craned my neck and squinted my eyes

I love your imagery here..It`s close to me and my images in poems, gives me so nice view and transfer me in another fantasy world. The castle, high up to the sky is always the sign for reaching, God and your own self, for strong spirituality and wisdom. You build it all alone in your efforts to grow. I was just wondering about the image of the Men on horses, who came to see your castle. It`s interesting you mention them just once, what importance you put in them? I imagined they would ruin your castle, but I`m happy it didnt happen :) I loved also the way you describe aromas of flowers and scents. It gives me amazing feeling. I like the simplicity and the point you follow like story-telling in your writings. just great, Honey bee!

I enjoyed the story in the poem. You create good visions and thoughts. I like the above lines. Allowing the bird to find safety and peace. The realistic ending left the reader with question and wanting to read more. Always a pleasure to read your excellent poetry.
