Knocking On Heavens Door

Knocking On Heavens Door

A Poem by Honey-Bee
"

A child is trying to get into heaven and she is knocking on heavens door.

"
I was knocking on heavens door
When along came a bandit
"I am going to heaven," I said
real candid
"Nothings in heaven" replied he
"Come with me and you will see
I have so much more
You'll see, I have galore"
"Oh, no thank you," I replied
"I like standing here knocking," I said in chid
I was knocking on heavens door
I soon got so tired so I sat on the floor
Then I heard music from inside
I started knocking again with pride

I was knocking on heavens door
Listening to the music sitting on the floor
Soon an Elephant came out
"It's heavenly inside," he said,
through his snout.
"Yes, I know, That is why I am knocking"
"That is good," he replied, Just don't do
to much talking.
"You see," He began, "When people talk
they soon forget to knock"
"And another thing," He began, "Trouble always follows"
When people get to talking, they soon begin to wallow"
He then went back inside
and I began to cry
"What are you crying about," said a turtle
"I am glad to meet you," he said, "My name is
Mr. Purtle.
"So happy to meet you dear,"
I tried to say with cheer
Then he told me all about himself
"I am kind'a small like an elf,
but I'd love to have chat
Please pull up a mat."
"OK," I said, "Chatting is fine.
Not to much talking though, I need to walk the line"
Soon our innocent chatting became wild gossip
And my eyes and ears were open to all that he tossed up.
Wild people soon showed up at the door
They began crying, "Please say more, Please say more"
We must of talked till dawn
At this point heavens curtains were drawn
I wanted to knock on heavens door
So I pleaded, "Stop stop, please no more
I could no longer see heavens door
But soon the master Jesus came knocking on my door
I opened for him
And he came in
He said, "I saw you knocking on heavens door
but you didn't have any wedding clothes to come in and explore
Then he dressed me in a beautiful robe and put a ring on my finger
Then he said, "Stay here awhile show love and linger,"
People need to open up the door of their heart
And I will give them wedding clothes to start
Soon they will come in my door
And will no longer be crying on the floor.
