Hesitant

Your reentry, a disturbance
in this newly settled place,

 Why now, reach for intimacies
long since packed away?

Why weave pathways back toward
my particular longings?

It would be possible, I suppose,
to again gather myself to your side,
reattach my heart to your ribs
and my faith to your touch.

I could, I imagine, believe
in all I thought we were.

But
when restless energy envelopes you
and your mind tires of my sanctuary,
and your eyes seek refuge elsewhere

when your head makes lists
of all that is not working.

When once more,
you discover yourself leaving,
 
I am not sure I can heal again.
I am not sure I ever did.

oh this is so good. i tend to go on the forever side, burn the bridge if needed. move on and with guarded heart. you already know that book had a lousy ending why read it again.
