A Poem by Mary C

I remember
who we were
or
who we thought.

I, the beauty queen
and you,
a collector of beauty

With straight pins
on velvet board
you mount acquisitions.

Sad really,
in time,
rhinestones lose their sparkle,
sashes yellow
and
collectors become bored
with wings they've stilled.

i really like the first stanza, who we were or who we thought. Sets up the rest of the poem's idea beautifully. Very well done.
