The Eagle Smile

The Eagle Smile

A Poem by Benedict Mdluli
"

Don't be heart broken live today as if yesterdays never existed.

"
She was there all alone busy crying.
I set down next to her & wondered why.
She took out her tissue, she said I'm sorry.
I said it's alright, I'm not here to pry but is everything fine?

She turned to me & she said son.
Everyday I go to sleep and I cry,
I wonder why?

It's three months now since he left for another lady.
I looked deep into her eyes, I could see she was hurt badly.
Tears dropped off her cheeks.

I pulled her close, she felt the warmth.
She pulled back and she said I loved him.
I released her, I believed her.
I told her we all have problems.

Our hearts lady have become fragile as a pill.
But we need to be tough as steel.
Faith is all we need, and hope is our feed.
I continued with my preaching.

You may now be alone but be glad you didn't lose the shine.
She smiled, I believed I touched her with my teaching.

I told her peace is all we need, we are all stars born to rise
do not cry anymore.

Everyday we live has a price we just have to pay it with the eagle smile.
He didn't appreciate you or your style but someone else will,
if not don't cry or die believe it's God's will.
