There Is A Dawn After Night

There Is A Dawn After Night

A Poem by Benedict Mdluli

I can’t speak due to my meekness

I’m wondering in the wilderness

I have cried out loud day and night

I heard voices saying it’s alright

Mom and dad is that you

When the day passes the night rises

Like in a game of chess I have been outplayed

I had to move silent like a knight

Before they knew it I had them mated

I have persevered now it’s all right

I can see the light and the future is bright

Indeed there is dawn after night.
