Day of the Red Dam Fight

Day of the Red Dam Fight

A Poem by Benedict Mdluli
"

The story of a long awaited and aborted revenge mission

"

It was like in the movies when your stick came crushing on

my face as if it was a ball from an outer space, I cried out loud

no one heard me. I was short probably my voice too. I can vividly

picture myself in that uniform soaked in blood, I vowed my revenge

you hit me hard I felt the heat, I saw the stars. I was too young

to indulge with you in a fight, I could only cry out loud to save my life.

You told me I was a small boy and yes you were right.

I have a scar as a constant reminder of you; I have hated you all my

Life. To a point that I wished you could be hit by a bus or descend to

mars. I got my revenge through other people who really gave you a

hiding. I was lovable you had touched the apple of their eye, but I

still felt like I needed my own piece of the pie, Yes I wanted to beat you

down to a point of no return live you lying in a dam of blood. I gave

the day I will get you a name the day of the red dam fight.

Jesus found me early I learnt that He forgave me and I’m willing to

forgive too, I don’t know where you are but I hope you are a changed

man too. Your sister who helped you to beat me went to be with the

Lord may he soul rest in peace, heaven is a better place with too much

space. To the day of the red dam fight I plead let us rest our case.
