The Sparks & The Fire

The Sparks & The Fire

A Poem by Benedict Mdluli
"

All about deferred passionate feelings towards someone, because you realize you may not be ready for them yet.

"

If I were a King I would make you a Queen over my people

You such a charming soul, beyond your beauty lay your character

So unique it needs a code, you refresh my heart bowels. Your smile

brings goodness in me like the refreshing summer rains, a minute with you

Is better than an hour with the world it extends life.

I need you in my life; I want to feel the love I never knew

My words run when they’re due, I would have told you, Oh yes I’m

Always on the run wishing I could never be found, but for you my run could

be my last just to hold onto you fast.

Loving is a pity you never know if the other part feels the same, it’s

Insane. It’s not rejection that I fear because it brings perfection

you get to know where  you stand it’s failure not to try when you have

the chance. My feeling is pleasant towards you I thought it was just transient,

however it’s stubborn and persistent getting tenacious day by day.

Not to boast I have learnt to be patient for things that are worth my wait,

& all I need is faith. The sparks and the fire, sparks can barely create fire

but fire creates sparks. Sparks are lust they do not last they fall on the ground

fast that’s how they die now we question our hearts were was love we forget

it was our eyes. Oh please give me the fire kind of love the one you revive

with fire wood, the till death do us apart, please keep me in my good mood.

My heart is my pride, my heart is closed, yet it’s so cold

Come make it warm, no matter how far you’re, you will always

Be close, you the key to its opening if it will be safe in your hands be

rest assured yours will be safe in mine.  It’s still a feeling I know it’s

oppressing my thoughts, pressing fiercely but one day I’ll let the heart

liaise with yours, I believe they were born intertwined to each other

and us born for each other.

I feel sparks for you but I prefer a burning fire.

It is the sparks and the fire, never walk away thinking there is

Nothing to believe in, because I do believe in you, when the time is right

& we all right and ready I’ll tell you what you need to hear hopefully you

will tell me what I need to hear too, then we can take the world by its corners

like grabbing a man by his collar even when storms come our love will keep

them calm.
