Lady of the Greens

Lady of the Greens

A Poem by Soresuke Maru

Lady of the Greens

Moving with no rush through nature

Lying on its lush green pasture

Its wonders all abundant

Fill the heart, oh how triumphant

Oh, what would I do without thee?

Having not but one place where I could flee?

And not being in touch with thy endless shire?

No red dawn nourishing my inner fire?

Though at times be the sun obscured

Yet my adoration for thee ever be secured

Seeing thee in human shape

Shining like the ripest grape

Thou dost appear before me

My most beloved fairy

Whom since early years I longed to see

Gone all weight that made me weary

Oh lady of the trees and fields

Thy golden fleece, sapphire gems and ivory

The peace and beauty that it yields

Take me to thy land of wonder forever thine to be
