Chapter 3A Chapter by Molentothe title says it allThat night, in a clearing in the woods, they set up camp. Eliena
had really thought of everything, with tents, blankets, and, while Molento did
some hunting, she even started a fire. "Wow, why do I get the feeling that
you have done this before," Molento asked as he walked into the clearing with
some rabbits that he found. "Probably because I have done this before," Eliena
replied, "My father and I used to go camping together. We would have fun,
he would teach me how to survive, I think that's the only thing I'm going to
miss about that little town." "You
really won't miss anything else?" "Nope,
there's nothing to do there, and nobody ever paid any attention to me other
than debating on what a good wife I'd make" "Wow, I
wish that I could remember my... home...town..." Molento trailed off while
looking into the fire, then, suddenly, he doubled over, his eyes wide, then
after a moment, he passed out. "Molento!"
Eliena exclaimed, rushing over to help him, but as she reached him, he bolts
awake, eyes wide. "I just remembered a spell!" he explained, excited,
"A spell that may help find out more about your powers!" "Really!" "Yes, now
hold still, um what was it... oh yeah ostendis potentiam tuam!"
Molento briefly glowed pure white, then as the light faded, Eliena glowed white
as well. "Ah, this is fortunate, very fortunate," Molento said. "Why is it
fortunate, and what is my power?" "First off,
your power has no alignment, which is like me and you can learn all types of
magic, like me, and it is fortunate because I can teach you the types of magic
that I have learned," Molento explained to Eliena. While they were discussing
this, something was watching them. Sensing something wrong, Molento stood up
and spun around to face the direction of the thing watching them, while quickly
drawing his sword. "Who are you, and what do you want from us,"
Molento shouted out to the trees, "Why are you silent, come out and face
me!" They hear a
slithering, scraping sound, and out of the forest came a black dragon.
"Hello, my name is Caede Animas, and what I want from you, Molento is
to join you in your journey." the dragon said. "Why do you
want to join us," Molento asked, "What is in it for you?" "The reason
I want to join you is that I sense that you have great power and I want to see
what you are going to do with it, and that goes for you too,
Eliesa." "M-me,"
Eliesa asked increduously, "Does that mean that I have the power that
Molento says that I do? "Yes indeed
it does, Eliena, you are the second most powerful magic user that I have ever
seen and my lifetime extends to many hundreds of times a human life." "I'm that
powerful," Eliena said in a wondrous voice, "second most powerful,
but hang on who is the most powerful one?" Caede Animas
turned to look at Molento, then said, "Molento is of course, he is more
powerful than you, but not by much, which is impressive because Molento is not
human, not fully." "Wait not
human!?" both Eliena and Molento shouted in tandem. "Yes, he is not fully human, as
evidenced by the ears, I believe that he is a hybrid of a rare form of elf and
human." "Elf, huh,
but what about his eyes?" "That even I
do not know. But it is getting late, and I assume you are heading somewhere
tomorrow?" "Not really,
I don't know where we should go, I have no memories of anything, so I do not
know where we should go to have Eliena taught magic and me, I need to find
somewhere where I can remember ANYTHING." "Well I
believe that both answers lie with the elves in the far east, you may remember
something there, because it is most likely where you grew up, and they have the
best magic teachers in Kvykyr." "What's
Kvykyr?" Molento asked. "Kvykyr is
what this land is called, Molento," Eliena explained, "It is home to
many races such as elves, giants, dwarfs, dragons, orcs, trolls, and of course,
humans." "Wow, I really
don't remember anything." "Well I
guess it's time to turn in," Eliena said, yawning, "g'night." Eliena laid back
and closed her eyes, drifting almost immediatly to sleep. Caedus Animas turned
to Molento and said to him, "there is one more thing that you need to
know, Molento, and I thought it best to tell you after she fell asleep." "What is
it?" "Two things,
one, I have decided not to accompany you on your journey, you two have to take
it for yourselves, and two, you are..." At that, Caedus Animus suddenly
disappeared, his words still echoing in Molento's ears for the rest of the
night. © 2011 MolentoAuthor's Note
