Ah, I have been carrying the pain of never being a high school student again for two days, I will never be able to wake up early, put on my school uniform, get on the bus and see my friends again. The friends we looked at in class, the handsome boy I followed in the hallway, the chats I had with my friends over tea at the cafeteria... I have an infinite sadness inside me that these will never happen again. But I realized this; every age has its own beauty and we should embrace it, no matter what age you are, you are holding onto a beautiful piece of life. No matter where you are in life, you will always miss this moment.
We hold on to the past because it is familiar, because the future is uncertain. But we can't go back to the past, we can't run to the future either. The best thing to do is enjoy the present. Step back and look at your life! Today will never come again, better ones will come, but continue believing in this.
"The best days are the ones we never experienced."
and you are an amazing poet! always!

childhood is precious, nothing like it. you only realize what was lost in growing into an adult once you're there. I miss my childhood a lot too, if ever I wanted to trade - I would anything to be back in my childhood :) Thanks for sharing this sweet poem, Martiya. Brought back some good old memories and some smiles :) Btw, you write great, keep writing.

Lovely, Martiya, in it's sadness for lost youth.
Woody Allen called this 'Golden Age thinking' in his 2011 movie, "Midnight in Paris."
It means we all long for an earlier time, even an earlier era, that we remember (with rose-colored glasses) as being better than the Present.
