O Dear Trees

O Dear Trees

A Poem by Martiya Daman

O dear trees, O dear trees,
How are your trunks stronger than me?
If you're a palm tree resting on the shore,
Why must I do my chores?

O dear trees, O dear trees,
You help us all, we have to agree.
When you are enjoying and you're a cactus,
Why in class, I have to practice?

O dear trees, O dear trees,
Why don't you get hurt by bees?
If your a magrove sleeping in a coastal place,
Why do I have to attend a race?

O dear trees, O dear trees,
You can always feel the breeze.
I am done, I am not me,
Could life be better as a tree?
