The Friendly Sparrow

A Story by Martiya Daman
"

A talking sparrow comes to Gaurav's balcony, and they become friends. One day, Gaurav finds himself in trouble in Ms. Ini's hands. How will the sparrow help?

"
In a society, there lived hundreds of people. The children were the happiest. They played all day, study and did activities. But Gaurav, was the loneliest. His parents were busy all day, and he was allergic to sunlight to come out. And even if it rained or snowed, no one would play with him, and he would read books in the balcony's shade. He would give seeds to the birds, and the birds would eat them. He couldn't talk to his neighbor Ms. Ini, because she hated children. He could only study and eat and do whatever in the house. One day, a sparrow came to his balcony. As always, he went to the box of seeds and gave it its food. But in astonishment, the bird picked them up and placed them down, as it looked like it was writing something. After a while, Gaurav read "H... I... Hi?" The bird said, 'Yes, I am talking sparrow. I bad at English. Who you are?' "Oh, hi, I guess. I am Gaurav. I am alone all the time" The sparrow replied "Me also alone all time. Guess me found a friend." Gaurav replied "Oh, I will be one for you and will fix your grammar." After that day, the sparrow and the boy became friends, and the bird was way better in English. One day, the Gaurav and sparrow were walking, when they came across Ms. Ini and her house. They were walking slowly. She was a staring at them. Suddenly, Gaurav tripped and fell on her water spray. It turned to Ms. Ini and wet her dress. "You dare wet my dress?" 'No! No! It was an accident! I swear!' Gaurav cried. "Accident? Well, I will do another one! I will teach you a lesson!" She replied. He started running. He hated being wet. The sparrow had to do something quick. It flew inside Gaurav balcony and there enter his house. He saw a box of needles. It picked not one, not two but three needles. It flew out and saw Gaurav caught by Ms. Ini and she was holding the pipe. It flew just in time to the pipe. She shouted, "Shooo! Shooo!" The sparrow was forced to fly back to his balcony. It saw what was happening. As soon as the water spray turn on, the water instead of rushing toward Gaurav, leaked and wet Ms. Ini's dress instead! Turns out, the bird poked holes in the pipe. Ms. Ini fell to the ground. "Well, what are you waiting for? Wet me again!" Shouted Gaurav with the sparrow.

Gaurav is the best example of an introvert. Funny story but had many lessons. One friend is enough if he stands by you in difficult time & books are the best companion in solitude. Beautifully written.

Thank you, Martiya...
A beautiful story of friendship of the most unlikely nature. Just the other day, I had a sparrow fly inside my house and try to find its way out through a closed window. I tried to shoot it out, but in its freight flew into the bathroom. When I followed it in it had disappeared. I count the birds as my friends. I see few people in nature serves as my family. This story was fun to read and had a moral. Nicely written.
