The Parrot Who Lost A WingA Story by Martiya DamanIn this story, a parrot saves a life and sacrifices herself to save him. But how? How did she get honored? Everything inside this story!Once in a village there was a parrot. She would say prayers to everyone. People called her ' Perry'. But one day, a massive fire broke out. Perry watched it with eager eyes and flew towards it as it never saw a thing. Somebody shouted, " Stay away Perry, it's dangerous!" Perry backed up from the fire. She heard a loud scream from a young boy in a house in the opposite direction. She saw a mother crying near the house. Kind enough, she flew to the open windows in the house. "P... P... Perry?" Said the boy shaking. The parrot started facing outside. At that second, he realized she was facing towards the tree near the windows. The parrot encouraged the boy to do his best and jump outside the windows and land on a branch. So, the boy jumped out terrified. Although he got tangled in the leaves, he held a branch before falling in the fire above him. The firefighters arrived at this scene. They asked, 'where is he?' The parrot who flew down to them again faced the tree. "We do not understand you." They replied. So, the parrot flew to the tree and the firefighter got to know. They instinctively used a ladder to climb. But the screams of the boy grew louder the more they got rid of the fire. "What happened?" They asked. 'Perry!' He replied. The firefighters threw buckets of water, but it was too late. The fire burned the parrot's wing! From that day onwards, the villagers grew a tree in the middle of the village and called it "Perry tree" where Perry would live. They celebrated Perry day whenever Perry's act of heroism and sacrifice came. © 2024 Martiya DamanAuthor's Note
