UnloveA Poem by MarltonTime to let go of a love from long ago.Unlove I must learn to unlove you. To set aside the truth that only I have felt. To feel your brief touch as nothing more. To move my glance from lingering to passing. To fill my aching with something other than your smile. To be indifferent to your good-night kiss. To still my heart at the wetness of your lips. To not smile when I hear your voice. To busy the hours of longing. To deny your ambiguities. To find your brittle charm suddenly broken. To dull the intensity of your presence. To focus on the others who will love me, If I let you go. And without bitterness, And with all good will, I must unlove you.
