To the Magnificent Star in the Sky

To the Magnificent Star in the Sky

A Poem by Marlowe147

To the magnificent star in the sky:

Some down here believe you a supreme being

Dost thou flood the earth from where thou weeps?

Cries like choir voices, praise’d singing

Not so long ago when Noah had sailed

Froth-foamed waves and thick-thread perilous rain

Finding himself finally impaled

Upon a shore of adjoin’d Beauty and Pain

For kind neighbor and fellow countrymen

All washed away with the cities they perfected

And all carrying the weighted sin

Sank, vanishing, clean and undetected.

Rays a-shine, alone, my Dove plucking grass

Returned to the calming sea, peace at last.
