I Found Out Too Late That She Loved Me

I Found Out Too Late That She Loved Me

A Poem by Poet Pittinix
"

It's an intriguing love story.

"

I loved Hannah more than I could say,

But I didn’t tell her that I loved her.

I wanted her to see it for herself.

So I came up with an idea that I thought would work.

She read the love poems that I wrote.

The poetic words revealed my true feelings.

She knew that I wrote them for her,

And she realised the depth of my love for her.

I didn’t know that she was in love with me.

She never showed her feelings for me.

Perhaps she tried to attract my attention,

But I was too dumb to realise it.

She wasn’t bold enough to express her love,

So she told the pastor that she loved me.

She thought he’d say something to me about it,

But he didn’t intend to tell me what she said.

Sadly, she told the wrong person.

She knew that he was lusting after her,

But she was not interested in a married man.

So why did she tell him about her love for me?

She certainly made an unwise decision.

Hannah expected me to make the next move.

Time was slipping by, and she became impatient.

She was wondering why I wasn’t doing anything.

Perhaps she thought she had made a mistake.

She mentioned the subject to the pastor again.

He said that he didn’t get the chance to talk to me.

She prodded him to do something quickly,

But he didn’t directly say anything to me.

He told a friend of mine what Hannah said,

But the lady withheld the information from me.

I later learned her reason for not telling me,

But I couldn’t accept her explanation.

A bible student named Roxie also loved me.

She did the same thing that Hannah did.

Fortunately, it worked out for her.

I didn’t love her as much as I loved Hannah,

But for some reason I accepted her love.

We dated for a year, and things went well.

One night I asked her to marry me.

She gladly accepted my proposal,

And we began to make plans for the wedding.

My friend came to me a week before the wedding day.

She told me about the whole thing.

When I heard the news, I was speechless.

She said she knew that I was courting someone else,

And she didn’t want to cause any trouble.

I can’t describe the way I felt at that moment.

How could such misfortune happen?

I loved Hannah so much, and I wanted to marry her,

But I couldn’t cancel the wedding and hurt my fiancée.

I found out too late that she loved me.

If I’d known that she loved me, I wouldn’t have engaged Roxie.

I went ahead with the wedding anyway,

But I’ve been thinking about Hannah since then.
