In Time, I WillA Poem by Poet PittinixThis is the blues. You were lying in bed on the ward. We spoke on the phone after visiting hours. And we texted each other in the night.
I wanted you to brighten up my heart And place a rainbow in my grey sky. You sincerely said, “In time, I will.”
I honestly didn’t expect you to say this, But your response comforted me. And I waited for you to keep your word.
Even though you meant the things you said, You were unable to fulfil your desires. Perhaps you weren’t thinking straight.
You made a promise that you couldn’t keep, But that didn’t stop me from loving you. I still think about the promise you made. © 2024 Poet PittinixAuthor's Note
