My Heart Will Never Be Ready to Lose You

This is a poem of love and blues.

You told me when we met that you’d go away,

But, darling, I fell in love with you anyway.

You didn’t come into my life to stay forever.

I know that we’ll have to part someday,

But I honestly don’t want it to happen today.

 

Everything that begins must end, so they say.

My love for you began in a strange way,

And it won’t end when you leave here today.

Even though we love each other intensely,

It’s time for us to go our separate ways.

 

You must return to your country in the east.

I didn’t want to experience this sad day.

The distance between us will tear us apart.

I never prepared for the end of our romance.

And my heart will never be ready to lose you.
