King

King

A Poem by Anthony Guest

“A black king divided ,plague by the ambitions that dwell deep within him,
Unable to showcase the beauty that lays restless in his soul,
Constantly struggling with the pain of the weight of the world as it foot lays upon his back,
Fated to struggle with the hate that it lashes out with as he encompasses it with his love,
Sadden by the anger it begs of him to show ,for his smile remains forever rejected,
The crown that he was born with taken from him,
Dirtied and tossed to his feet he reaches ,
Only for his hands to remain empty,
He struggles for the fear of dreamless nights may lead him astray ,
For the fear that his ambitions shall remain forever frozen in place unable to move forward,
Filled with the guilt that the road he's chosen may be baron ,
He prays for a hope that remains unbroken,
For the walls that block his path to fall,
For the world to see what lays within him,
For the strength to grasp the crown that is rightfully his and never let go,
For he is a king that prays and love.”
