LINGERING

LINGERING

A Poem by Dave

                                                  LINGERING

Linger, linger in my arms until the stars have left the sky

Linger as the warmth of you is overtaken by the rising sun

Your breath, not heard above the singing of the early birds.

I linger so I may see your beauty basking in the suns' rays.

My longing is heavy, to once again kiss your soft, warm lips.

I wait, content to simply have you lingering in my arms.

I found this in my reading library & so now I have a place to wish you & your loved ones a Happy Easter! Your poem describes a feeling I once had with a best friend who I hated to stop spending time with . . . it took over 20 minutes to say "good-bye" becuz we always thought of "one more thing" to share. I totally feel the urge to linger & I love the word "linger" (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I love everything about this- it's simple and has just the right amount of detail of the moment

Thank you - I'm glad you liked it.

Take care - Dave
i find this very warm, and with strong sentiment..i did have a bit of a time tripping over the rhythm and would like to see the lines shortened just a bit, syllable-wise.
but the repetition of "lingering" fits the theme so well.
