The CostA Poem by Dave
The Cost
I see her in the glow of the setting sun, so far away Wishing her to come, have the night forget the day Was it a day of sadness, who's to say, she went away. Should I be happy, now that she's gone, I can't decide I could blame it all, yes I could on my foolish pride. Sweet kisses, passionate love, tenderness, were mine Who could have asked for more? What greedy soul? Shake the foundation of our love, ruin it, in time moments of unneeded ecstasy I took, there was a toll A toll I didn't know I'd pay, until she went, so far away. At night I cry the love I lost, if only I had known the cost. Will she forgive me, each day forgive me I pray I see her, so far away, dancing, singing, yes I know I've lost Once I was able to make her happy, full of life, to be mine. Full of despair, feeling so lost, it wasn't worth, what it cost.
