Christmas Eve Watch

Christmas Eve Watch

A Poem by Dave

Christmas Eve Watch
How quietly the evening snow covers the ground
Scarcely a sound to be heard on this wintry night
Peering out at the wondrous sight, huge white flakes
I look and look from my nice warm bed, waiting.
The decorations have all been hung on the tree
icicle tinsel droop from each bough, shining
Christmas balls reflecting the twinkling lights
Cookies and milk for Santa lay on the table.
Tonight I want to see him soar through the air
Except for the snow the sky is so clear, I listen
No, there is nothing to hear, no jingling of bells
night grows deep and I find myself falling asleep.
When I open my eyes I found he has come
Oh the presents abound my heart's full of glee
I'm glad he's eaten the cookies and milk from me.
Next year, if I do it just right I'll be able to wait up all night.

A wonderful and hopeful poem shared my friend. I work retail as a Manager. No Holidays for me. I do my best to smile and ensure the grandchildren are happy on Christmas day. Thank you Dave for sharing the excellent poetry.

Special time Christmas Eve.
It's also that sigh of relief time.
You basically can do no more.

I remember being this innocent. it's hard looking back to a time when everything was clear. I'm glad you remember a great moment in your life and shared it with us

I'm glad you felt some of the excitement I tried to instill in this wondrous night. I lived in the city and I remember my brother and I together looking out the window of our apartment in the hopes of seeing him and his sleigh.

Take care - Dave

Wow. You capture the kind of Christmas I knew as a child. All the wonderment, hope and excitement. I don't about you, but I never made it all night. A treasure chest of sparkling words, this is.
