Christmas Eve Watch
How quietly the evening snow covers the ground Scarcely a sound to be heard on this wintry night Peering out at the wondrous sight, huge white flakes I look and look from my nice warm bed, waiting. The decorations have all been hung on the tree icicle tinsel droop from each bough, shining Christmas balls reflecting the twinkling lights Cookies and milk for Santa lay on the table. Tonight I want to see him soar through the air Except for the snow the sky is so clear, I listen No, there is nothing to hear, no jingling of bells night grows deep and I find myself falling asleep. When I open my eyes I found he has come Oh the presents abound my heart's full of glee I'm glad he's eaten the cookies and milk from me. Next year, if I do it just right I'll be able to wait up all night.
