Who Am I?

Who Am I?

A Poem by Carcass
"

Poem from high school.

"

I am a game in the process of creation.

I am a pen pressed to paper.

I am a dream within a child’s mind.

I am the snow that falls silently to the ground.

I am not the sports seen on TV.

I am not religious and never will be.

I am the spiral galaxies seen far beyond us.

I am the college I have not gone to yet.

I am the paint gliding across a canvas.

I am the voice behind a story.

I am the headphones that feed you music.

I am the fear thought of before bed.

I am the corruption behind the world.

I am invisible and wish to stay that way.

Often i find myself writing without knowing the meaning behind the words i put to paper. Upon the interpretation of this very poem i very easily came to the conclusion that i was writing about my ego. This was a poem with guidelines given to everybody in my English class in either my junior or senior year of school, to my understanding i was the only one to take this assignment seriously. When writing a "Who am I" style poem one will realize the ego is interpreting itself and i believe i have done this accurately regardless of what a critic might say about the skill level of this piece. Personally i love this piece of work much like a parent would love their child. I thank my English teach Ms. Vanyo of Argyle Central School for this assignment i now understand.
