Bind My Mind

Bind My Mind

A Poem by Mark Alexander Boehm

I've been to every fountain
Thrown all my pennies in
So where's the part
Where my luck turns around?
Even when I'm awake
I'm still in the nightmare
And it's not fair.
I go to breathe air
But I'm inhaling fear's gasoline
Fueling every 'what if'
And 'why didn't you do this?'
Become the one you always
Thought you'd be?
Where is my oxygen?
Overdosing on the toxin
That's flooding my mind.
I'd fight my way out
But my soul's in a bind.
Fighting takes heart
But I left mine behind.
