On the Inexpediency to Society of Persons who Think OvermuchA Poem by Mark Wallace"Be not righteous over much. Neither make thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself." Ecclesiastes 7:16Though you may a dullard be Though of wit you may be free You are better far than he Whose wisdom is exceeding. For if your mind is without gleam With such a kind the world doth teem You will not lack for those that seem To be of sim’lar breeding. But woe for he who knows too much Whom ignorance provides no crutch The world of men cares not for such He makes us all unquiet. Yea, such a one must be cast out For thought, well, what is thought but doubt? And better far are we without Such stuff, can you deny it? While doubting man in darkness dwells A cold and solitary cell For men of faith all will be well Faith alone can bring relief.
He is the fool whose private hell Consists in stubborn unbelief. © 2010 Mark WallaceReviews
