Chapter 4: A New Species, A New Love

Chapter 4: A New Species, A New Love

A Chapter by Mark Martindale

As G'wintar got closer, this creature seemed to gain more and more odd characteristics. It had no feathers, and the fur it had was long and only on its head. Yet, it had some time of layer over it that covered it. This creature also didn't have a snout, but a bump of some kind that it smelled from. How odd, He thought.
He was close enough now to see that he no longer needed his True Vision. He could tell now that this creature was female by the smell and aura that was coming off of her. He sensed that she was friendly and meant to harm to anything around her. Despite his senses, he approached her slowly and carefully. She didn't notice him walking up on her due to a book she was reading so deeply. He tried to read the cover, but it was nothing like the language Gwilla taught him.
He decided it was best for him to wait for her to notice him, then have her talk to him first. This way he could sense any hostility toward him. So he sat down a few feet away from her and awaited her to notice him. He did wait long before she lowered the book, saw him and screamed ear piercingly loud.
G'wintar dropped to the ground instantly covering his ears and looked around for anything dangerous. he couldn't spot anything near. He tried to use his True Vision, but it was blurred and hard to see with his hearing shot by her scream. Still, he could tell nothing was closer then twenty yards away or so. He slowly turned toward her and ask her in a slightly aggressive tone, "What in Detra's name was that scream for?"
She was shaking in fear and breathing very rapidly. "Y-your a wolf. P-please don't eat me. I knew i should have stayed with father." She began to weep uncontrollably and dove behind the the tree. Using it to separate her from him. G'wintar decided it was better not to force her to get used to him, but to let her know he meant her no harm and let her come to him. He stood his ground and looked at her with his head tilted to his right.
"Why would I harm you, let alone eat you? You have done me no wrong. Besides..." G'wintar was able to get her to lock eyes with him, "You seems far to nice and good a person for me to attack." He chuckled to himself and smiled at her sincerely. He could see she was calming down slowly as she stopped trembling and her shoulders relaxed.
"So... You don't know who or what I am?" She asked with a slight tremble in her voice.
"No I'm sorry do not know who you are or what you are. But you seem very sweet so I wouldn't mind having you as a part of the pack. If you don't have a pack already that is." Deep under G'wintar's thick black fur, he was blushing like a love struck puppy. This was very embaressing for G'wintar. Usually, a male would only ask a female to join his pack if he wanted to have her as his mate. This was not the case for G'wintar. He had sincer intentions. She seemed lonely out here by herself. Plus, G'wintar never had anyone to talk to except for Gwilla.
