Chapter 3: Playing Galila's GameA Chapter by Mark Martindale
G'wintar had taken Galila all around the Red Pack territory, showing her everything and giving her the history of it. "This was where we got our wide variety of colors that we'd blend with the metal. But after the bombing it was destroyed and now we only have the red of the berries and meat we eat." G'wintar looked at Galila's necklace, "It's no gold or diamond, but the way we design makes up for it" He gave her a smile and laughed innocently.
Galila smiled back and kissed his cheek, "Your so adorable. I'm starting to like the idea of being your mate." She blushed and hid her face. Wait, did i mean that? Am I actually falling for him? I wanted to seem cute, but don't think i'm faking this blush. I need to get away so i can think. "G'win, darling. I need to go speak with Gwilla to... negotiate when I learn her forging ways. This way i can stay a little longer" Or learn sooner so i can get away, she thought to herself. She kissed him on the cheek once more and walked back to the stream to Gwilla. She looked over her shoulder and asked, "Your not coming?" Hoping he would want to follow her, yet hoped he stayed away. "No, I'm fine here," he said as he looked up to the sky rather then at her, "You go do what you need to do and I'll be here if you choose to return." Galila looked at him oddly. What is so different about this wolf that he doesn't care about what i do? Back in Detra, I have to stay with my pack or at least a male and do what ever he wishes. Is this the legendary Red Pack freedom? As Galila walked back toward Gwilla, she found her time away useless. She could only think about G'wintar. He was very sweet, rather handsome now that she thought about it. the way his black fur held the moonlight almost turning blue. And the strange red fur pattern on his back. It was just red fur, but in the right light as the wind blew perfectly, it looked as though there was a fire burning with in the pattern. Almost like the fire from the bombing in this land was absorbed into that pattern. "Ah, Galila. Glad to see you again. Where's G'wintar?" Gwilla asked, snapping Galila out of her trance/ "Oh, um... He decided to stay back and look at the sky" Galila said slightly in trance. "That sure sounds like him," Gwilla said as she giggled, "I'm telling you he thinks he..." "Tell me about his birth." Galila said cutting off Gwilla. Gwilla stared at Galila hard, "why would you want to know about his birth? It was like any other litter being born." Galila stared back at Gwilla. She was hiding something from her, but what? She wanted to know yet didn't want to push her boundries, but she knew she had to. "It was during the bombing right?" "Well yes, but why is that of any significance? Many pups were born around that time." Gwilla didn't like how much information she was getting on G'wintar. "What is it exactly that you want to know Galila?" "I... I want to know about the marks on his back." Galila said nervously," It's the mark of Detra. And it looks as though a flame burns in the mark." "Galila," Gwilla took a deep breath, "What I am about to tell you, you must not tell my son. He must figure it out on his own. You can have no part in him finding out. Not a word. Not a howl. Not a clue. Do you understand me?" Gwilla shot Galila a look that sent fear through her heart. "I swear to you by Detra and my life that I shall not tell a soul." Galila bowed and looked up at Gwilla for her acceptance. "You Detra clan wolves and your overload of traditions." Gwilla stood tall and looked down at Galila as she spoke with athority of an alpha, " Galila of Detra. I grant thee approval under Detra's watchful eye." Galila sat down and awaited the information she wanted so badly. "Now as you know G'wintar's birthing was at a disasterous time in history..." * * * While Gwilla and Galila were discusing G'wintar's legacy, he was high on a cliff perfecting his newest skill he called "True sight". He felt like he could see everything in the land. He could feel the deer run and how big the herd was. Then he could now zoom in on the herd and block out everything else. He could focus on a single deer and determine its fatigue by the breaths it took. He went pack to looking at the whole area and saw something that didn't seem quite right. There was a strange creature of sorts. It was sitting, or leaning against a tree that was one of his favorite spots to get away and relax. It looked awkward in the position it was sitting. Its legs were crossed and it didn't seem possible when he looked at his own legs. Maybe it's hurt. G'wintar thought to himself. With that in mind he looked around him, checking for Galila. She was no where to be seen, so he ran off toward this creature in hope of being able to help it.
