Summer GamesA Poem by Mark ManningMen ,Women,Fun & Games,Summer Games Lawns lime greened manicured , mini rainbows thru sprinklers water jet. Sunshine summer burst light blue sky, nature’s auto pilot no regrets. Child chased butterfly , old man rustled news paper, his coffee tide line low, From my heart’s window ,watched you leaving , who where why I did not know. My fingers lingered on white window frame , cool paint consoled , In all this balmy bliss though, I felt my life ooze and grow cold. Scented flower beds tried to hold you , wild birds cooed... think again, Faithful Labradors eyes pleaded , woofed goodbye sweet dearest friend. Why do men and women hurt the other ?, were not we to love each other, Like the father and the mother , like the sister and the brother...
Pride ,Trust,Envy,Hurt and Shame, accusation and counter blame. Screaming fear with words that bruise, while frightened children look on confused. Pride ,Trust ,Envy ,Hurt and Shame , wear these beads around your neck , Broken marriage picture frame. Why do men and women hurt each other? ,bash each other with emotional bricks, playing games of ownership. Gravel crunched as you turned on heel, One last look you gave to me and house, I held your gaze ,knew well your ways, In the end it never mattered who looked up or who looked down.
