See this day arrive

See this day arrive

A Poem by Mark D

Sunrise dusts off last shadows of night
Warmth caresses my face
Illumination troubles my eyes

Remaining awake at odds with my bodies will
My mind slows but upholds it's exertion
Overrun by guilt and lamentation

I needed to see this day arrive
The day I leave the place I love

I have no will to go
But yesterday's crimes will not go unpunished

This has such broken feelings inside of it. It has left a troubled wave inside of me after I read it. The way you express the unwanted coming of day, the realization you actually have decided upon what you must do. You have a powerful way of stating everything you need to say in such a short poem. ANd it honestly made me feel.

"Illimination troubles my eyes"

That was a beautiful sentence. You began the poem softly but powerfully and it echoed, rolling like thunder all the way through to your very last sentence. Well done.

This was beautiful and the way you organized everything-it flowed very well, and the title corresponds with everything.

I really liked this, especially the ending which made me see the poem in a different light. Great language used to express the theme.
