A Poem by Margarette
"

"Looking back, you realize that a very special person passed briefly through your life, and that person was you. It is not too late to become that person again." ~Robert Brault,

"

Do all people depict the story of God?

Of unconditional and perfect lives?

Of true holiness with only Him by their sides?

Of painful sacrifices and unbearable sufferings?

Surely, this is wrong

Because we are all seeking a happy ending

We pretend to have something we do not own

The coating of disguise that is changed often

In days where there are no troubles

Where no mistakes were committed

No worries blemished onto others

Such as those times not determined by nature

I now weigh the sins of my freedom

Not knowing what will happen

The result looks dark

Glimmering, faint and so far away

Why can’t I blame someone?

For what became of me

I am just fooling myself

I find it estranged

People are not free to be lonely

Only loneliness is free to make

Someone must be beside me

I need you now

Let’s choose to continue to the future

Let’s not count on to the story

Let’s hold hands together

Until the end, let’s not forget this

I have to be determined

The answer is just inside me

I will start adding more memories

Of us being together

In my mind

Forever.

I wrote this during midnight because ideas kept coming to me. I hate to forget those the next morning so instead of sleeping early, I made this poem. I was glad it turned out fine even though I rushed it. Read and enjoy reviewing!

To me this poem seems to be about the benefits of secularism over the restrictions of religious dogma. You start very bravely here by challenging the belief that God wants us to lead a certain life and that he'll always be their as both a totem of apology and self-denigration. This is backed up well with the point that, "we are all seeking a happy ending": it sounds so obvious but we all are doing just that. It's not for someone else, not for our community or for God or God's. In the end we all just want to be happy and for its'/our own sake.

In my opinion the strongest line in the poem is when you ask, "Why can't I blame someone?" This strikes to the heart of the matter. In order to be respected there surely has to be ownership of our own destiny and responsibility for our actions. Blaming God for our own woes is simply the antithesis of the vacuous actions of a sports star or artist who claims their success is down to some divine inspiration.

This poem will possibly rub a few people up the wrong way but I like the way that you've challenged convention. Perhaps it might even make make someone realise that maybe, as you say, the "answer is just inside me".
