Unrequited

Unrequited

A Poem by Marissa M.
"

I wrote this about a guy I liked years ago but never told him, and still I dream of him sometimes and wonder what might have been.

"

I remember you not as you were

but as you came to be

in the dreams of my hesitant heart

and distant regret.

You left me hollow as a tin man

rusting under an acid rain

that forces me to feel

the pain I’ve caused myself.

And you never knew

Of the heart that you had stolen;

For now you shall remain

A memory yet unbroken.
