Sweet Like Honey

Sweet Like Honey

A Poem by Marinabeana

I have somehow stayed warm
Even after falling in love
With cold and broken people

I ooze affection
A chaotic atmosphere
Fueling the flow

I am kind in nature
Sweet like honey when needed
Even to my own demise

I have come to find
That my balmy charisma
Comes from feelings of anguish

I have known, my whole life
That I am full of melancholy
And hatred

I wish for no one to feel these things
So I try to be comforting
Coddle my friends

I treat people how I want to be treated
And usually they don’t notice
But I know you do

Because you are showing me
And your eyes glow
And you are not cold with me

Like you are with everyone else

Interesting how the speaker has been "full of melancholy and hatred" and has overcompensated by being affectionate to a fault. Nevertheless, the result has been getting involved with "cold and broken people." It is said our outer experience reflects our inner beliefs, and this seems to confirm it.
