Silence

Silence

A Poem by Marina

What is it about you
that makes me feel so small and invisible
Sometimes it's like
me and the fly on the f*****g wall are the same thing
Equally unnoticeable
Equally separated from the world
When I'm with you
I strive to be someone other than me
Because me might not be enough
Might not be good enough
To match your "greatness"
Self-proclaimed king
Self-declared Majesty
I don't even have my Self
I give it to you
unwillingly
unnoticeably
undeniably
It disgusts you
It disgusts me
Such power deserves something equal
you might think
Not a timid smudge on the wall
that you make me feel
Or is it me
Is it me that I make me feel like this
My silence disturbs you
It penetrates your being like a sword
Perhaps this is my power in my insignificance

Silence used to withhold connection, avoid ending a relationship or confronting an issue with someone, is a mighty sword that hurts everyone. When discomfort lingers with no outlet for expression it tends to gnaw at your emotions like rotten food. Great emotional write - full of drama and intrigue ... :-)

Nice to see you back. Like how you've bestowed greatness against your own self. Yet that greatness can only grow if you're there. Strange how the smallest part missing, stops the whole machine.

Never thought about it in this perspective. It's definitely refreshing. Thank you!
