White Feather

White Feather

A Poem by Marina
"

#21

"
If you ever find
a white feather
wrap it gently
inside the tissue
of your heart -

for within its DNA
may lie all hope
of redeeming humanity -

a final chance
to save ourselves
and the peace dove
from total extinction -

in a world
we have tilted
precariously
on its axis
of evil.

I do collect the feathers dear Marina. I use for book markers. I have the Lake St. Clair near. Always feathers resting on the ground for the taking. I like your hope written in the poetry. A white feather. Like the Dove. The bird of peace. We need today in our world. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry. I did enjoy.

What beautiful write...
Thanks for sharing. I do collect feathers, I even thought how such thing falls off and how it is attached to body or wings or a tail of birds.... the feathers used to apply ointment and my dear used to clean his ears and it's not healthy too... so I keep far away from him...

When one see the beauty of nature definitely there resides peace within for oneself..... but about the world, it will answer in it's own way of universe... :)

Beautiful beautiful poem, I always look at feathers as peace, when I find them in corners, and sometimes when frustrated and it falls out of nowhere. You gave this such meaning of truth.
We really need more peace because the world is going through a very long phase of evil... >.<

You're welcome! 🤗
If we could only learn to love peace more than war and each other more than money we might stand a chance at survival but as it stands we seem to be a species doomed to our extinction sooner than later. I have white feathers on my walking stick but they are from a swan and not a dove. But I understood and enjoyed the symbolism and metaphor. Doves bearing olive branches are infinitely preferred above the eagles and vultures of war.

I tend to agree. Sometimes it just amazes that, even with all our evolutionary and historical knowle.. read more

Very much so. Thank you, Dave. ❤️
Indeed, the world at this time does seem to be tilted toward the negative. Apparently the feathers many are finding come from hawks.

Thank you, Maria. A pleasure to meet you, too. ❤️
You've given feathers a new meaning here by telling us to imbibe the message in their DNA, take it to heart. A beautiful and clever suggestion in what feathers could symbolize, weightless yet bearing weight enough to tilt the axis with peace, love and gentleness. A feather is all these things and more. A strong message of hope accompanies the despair felt about the world. This makes the poem unforgettable.
Well done!
