A Mother’s Love

A Mother’s Love

A Poem by Marie-Louise.
"

A Mother’s love.

"

A Mother’s Love.

A child brings love into your life.

That little smile that melts your heart.

Those curling fingers around yours,

that grip that holds you from the start,

that says I’m yours, I’m yours.

That moment when you hold your child,

you count her fingers and her toes.

You touch her hair, her face, her nose.

She is beautiful in repose,

And by her you are beguiled.

Oh what joy that memory brings,

your naked child, smiling up at you.

She talks, she says  “agoogle goo,”

And you say ”did you really do,”

And she laughs, and her whole body shakes,

the joy communication makes.

And she says” agoogle, google do

I do, agoogle goo.”

You cry as you remember now

her faltering steps,

her fall, her laugh,

her smile that spreads from ear to ear,

then up she gets, still full of cheer

and once more tottered forth.

Moments to savour,

to enjoy for ever.

Moments of pure love that never,

never can be dispelled.

Never forgotten, ever held,

in your pure heart for ever.

This poem is so utterly sincere. I've shared your emotions, and somehow managed to feel involved.. from outside at least. Your life has become full as full can be. To hold such a precious being in your arms, to count toes, look at skin, feel that little heart beating.. must be.. the greatest gift ever.

Beautiful words.. absolutely beautiful.

What's to be said, Marie-Louise,

Of a Mother's lovingly endearing expressions of warmth and tender caring for her child … especially, when her words are rendered so beautifully sweet and touching as are yours here in this enthrallingly shared homage to one of life's greatest miracles, an infant child.

Sigh-worthy, I bow in great reverence … wonderfully done, Dear Poetess! ⁓ Richard 🍃

My son is thirteen now; towers over me and has feet big enough to walk on water. :)) But how well I remember those precious moments so beautifully depicted in this poem. They are memories that last forever and would be without them for all the gold ever mined in the world.

this is so sweet and sincere I could spread it on toast:) I have never had children but that little hand feeling I have felt for my step daughters children! I will never truly know the feeling of a mother to a child but I enjoyed your sincere depiction:)

Will never forget being handed my daughter in the delivery room. A tiny bundle of life that would change my own for the better, forever, and would have me investing every breathing minute making sure she was safe, well, and loved to bits.
Love this

Beautiful memories here Marie-Louise of motherhood. Such a very special time and your lines are filled with joy and love. Those tiny fingers curling round yours, gripping you tight and of course those first smiles. You have brought it all back to me. Very nicely conveyed. Your last line rounds the poem off beautifully. All good wishes.
