A Moment in time

A Moment in time

A Poem by Samuel Price

The sailor finally came home.

He was happy as he could be.

Some brother had died,

but he, he survived.

He waited for his wife,

to greet him on shore,

all of his brothers’ wives had come.

Where was she?

He finally gave up,

and set off home, alone.

Hearing the sobs of joy from the other wives,

he was getting mad.

So he turned around,

grabbed the nearest girl to him

pulled her into a kiss,

he didn’t know her at all.

One hand around the waist,

another covering her eyes.

Held her in place,

she was struggling after all.

A click of the camera,

A flash of light,

A moment in time,

Captured forever.

Many think its of two lovers,

rejoicing his homecoming.

They don’t know it’s true meaning,

the struggle she had faced.

So I guess it’s true, what they say.

A picture is worth a thousand words,

they just might be a lie.
