Society at Work

Society at Work

A Poem by Samuel Price

I see them girls hating themselves daily.

I see them others about everything from their clothes to their lipstick color.

I see them worrying about the same things, wanting to be accepted.

I see them hurt others with cruel words to make themselves feel better.

I see them acting like someone else because they hate who they are.

I see them faking smiles and laughs to hide their insecurities.

I see them trying to catch a boys attention so they can have someone to tell them they're pretty.

I see them beginning to distance themselves from family.

I see them starting to believe that the person they created id who they really are.

I see them beginning to turn against their friends to gain power.

I see them acting so fake they don’t realize they’re acting.

I see them form into the girl that society wants.

I see them let society take another innocent girl and turn her into someone else.

I see them finally lose.

I see them thinking they won.

I see them and I shake my head in disappointment, just let them be who they want to be.

I love this! People don't realize how much they let society change them.
