Below the SurfaceA Poem by Maria M.This
selfish, irresponsible, downright childish, yet still present dream
screams
through the muted
lungs
of
youth.
Long
gone and forgotten,
in
a past that has been suppressed longer than the dust that sinks upon it like a
weight in the sea. It
sits, rusting,
near its breaking
point
in the murky depths of the unforgiving ocean
of adult responsibility,
waiting for a moment of release.
Waiting
for the moment when the shackles break
under
the pressure,
sending its all too willing slave spiraling to
the surface,
and the sweet chaos of freedom
can
ensue. When
all that has been held within a chains reach in the unforgiving waters is
finally given a chance, to taste the sweet spray of the newborn waves above;
to
be swept up in the arms of moonlight
and laid gently upon the shore.
For
on the sun warmed sands, the castle
within
the dreams of a muted
youth
may
echo
over
an
unconscious world.
